Prachuap Poolside and Farang Dinner Spot

Just before midday we went back down the stinky fish stall street onto the side street looking for postcards. There were none to be found. Obviously not enough tourists or too much internet influence. But it's after 11 so the Chang is fair game this time. Two large cans and a couple of Sprites.

Heading back to the hotel via alternative streets we are keeping an eye out for potential dinner spots as well as a bike hire place. There are two bike hire options on the beach front road. Bikes like Ayutthaya and only 50 Bhat each. That could be a good option for an activity one day while here.

The walk back makes us warm enough to check out the pool up closer. There are four other older people hanging out by it but no-one swimming. The pool is very nice. Much deeper than the other hotels we have visited. Sitting on the lounge chairs watching the waves and reading is a pleasant way to pass the afternoon. Very relaxing.

For dinner we thought we should check if the night market by the pier was operating or not. There were food stalls but perhaps half the number from last night and in a slightly different place. We enjoyed a pork stick and a beef ball stick. We passed on the squid sticks, see photo. The pork was delicious. The beef was served cold but with a spicy sauce. Each stick was 10 bhat, less than 60 cents. We needed a mango smoothie to put out the flames from the beef stick. Actually it wasn't that spicy. 😂 40 Bhat for the smoothie which we shared as we walked back in the opposite direction.

We ended up at a place called Timber Hut Cafe right on the seaside street front. We had seen it had good reviews particularly their pizzas. We ordered a cheese and pepperoni one to share plus a large Chang (each!). We thought there might be a wait so needed the extra liquid sustenance. The pizza was 300 Bhat and the beers 90 Bhat each so total around $25. The pizza was on the small side but yummy. Sarah tells me the place we ate at is known as a go to for the Farang. That's what the Thai's call Western white people. We will therefore make this a one off. It also explains the people we heard speaking English that we could barely understand due to their accents. 😂
