Siem Reap Hotel Breakfast
We had an early night which meant by 5am this morning I was awake and could not get back to sleep. Reading my book filled in the time until it was safe to make enough noise to stir Sarah at 6.30am.
Our hotel price included breakfast each day. Because of the sunrise tour yesterday we had missed out on the first one but we were not going to miss out again today. Hotel breakfasts in Asian countries are always interesting to see what is on offer. This one for example had Western options as well as Asian. The chilled juice selection was the first thing that struck me as odd. I was expecting orange, pineapple or apple to be one of the options but instead the choices were pumpkin, roselle, and soy bean. What?! I have no idea what a roselle is but it turned out to be nice; refreshing. Sarah tried the pumpkin and it was pretty weird.
Scrambled eggs, french beans wrapped in bacon, chicken sausages, and potato gratin was a good starter. Followed by some waffles with chocolate sauce, no maple syrup! Two cups of coffee also helped wash it down. I think we can safely skip lunch.
Sarah tried some dragon fruit and a bright crimson coloured fruit with no name. Both were reasonably tasteless. Master Chef would say they had subtle flavours. 😂
